The PETpoint presents mainly technologies and accessories for the manufacture and recycling of drink bottles made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate). PLA (polylactide) and other plastics for beverage containers are also represented at the PETpoint. The PETpoint has been an integral part of drinktec, the world’s leading trade fair for beverage and liquid food technology, since 2005 and operates there under its own label. Messe München GmbH acquired the rights to the PETpoint brand from the heidelberg business media GmbH (hbmedia) of Heidelberg on 1 October 2009. At the last drinktec in September 2009, some 120 exhibitors showed their products at the PETpoint on a gross area of 11,000 m², which was 50 per cent more space than in 2005.
